Dental Anxiety
The Maison Dental team understands that a trip to the dentist may be a daunting experience for some. We make every effort to alleviate any concerns you might have and help you feel at ease during your visit. If you think you might be an anxious patient, let us know in advance and one of our friendly team members will call you to discuss how we might best help. Options range from short conditioning appointments to help familiarise you with our practice, to more therapeutic solutions such as nitrous oxide (happy gas) inhalation or sedation with a qualified practitioner.

What would you like to...
See, Listen, or Feel?
We want to know what makes you feel more at ease. Is it a certain tv show, movie, podcast. artwork or music that will transport you away from the thought of having dental treatment? Watch what you would like on demand, listen to your favourite album or close your eyes and block out the noise with our noise-cancelling headphones.
Local anaesthetic is generally used for invasive procedures so that you feel as little as possible, however if you would prefer not to feel numb let us know.

Relative Analgesia
Would you like a helping hand in keeping you relaxed throughout your treatment - would you like to try nitrous oxide? This is also known as happy gas or relative analgesia.
Nitrous oxide reduces anxiety and pain within minutes as you breathe the colourless gas through the nasal mask. After your treatment is complete, pure oxygen is used to completely flush out any remaining nitrous oxide from the airways. You will feel back to normal in no time. Unlike sedation or general anaesthetic there is little to no on-going side effects with happy gas.
